Ever thought of a fun family project in the garden?

Well, if nothing else this could be an educational experience!!
Sugar beets can be planted up to 30 days before the last frost and are generally
harvested in the fall around october. The beets can be grown, harvested and
processed in your own home! To process, you will need an electric orange juicer,
a percolator top, a large canning size pot, a meat slicer/grinder or grater, milk
of lime (available from pharmacies) and a fair amount of time.
Instructional reference will come with the seeds. Planting instructions will be included as well. Good luck.
Note: Black strap molasses is used for cattle. It is generally considered too bitter to be edible for people.
***Seeds may be treated with thiram. Thiram is used as a seed protectant and to protect fruit, vegetable, ornamental and turf crops from a variety of fungal diseases. So do not eat seeds.
