Dandelion Plant (Taraxacum) is a Spring and Summer Flowering Perennial
Dandelion means "Lion's Tooth." Every single flower on the head is called a floret. Dandelion leaves are typically five to 25 centimeters long and form a basal rosette above a taproot. Their flowers are yellow to yellowish-orange in color and are open during the day and closed at night. Stems and leaves produce white and milky latex when they are broken. Flower heads consist entirely of ray florets and are two to five centimeters in diameter. Many children love to blow on mature flower heads and make a "wish." The fully matured flower heads turn into rounded seed heads, commonly called "blowballs."
